Dear Residents,
Following letter was received by Cridling Stubbs Parish Council:
BT Decision to Remove Payphone
Dear Parish / Town Council,
Further to my previous emails regarding the consultation on the last-at-site payphone in your area, I am advising you that BT has decided to continue to remove the relevant payphone.
North Yorkshire Council objected to the removal of the payphone and has requested a review of the BT decision to remove the payphone and kiosk based on the evidence provided. We are currently in the 21-day review period.
If the Parish Council now wish to adopt the kiosk following this decision by BT, please contact the adopt a payphone team at BT as a matter of urgency as it is expected that the payphone will be removed from service by BT in the near future. BT are advising that adopting a payphone box costs just £1, and to apply at the following link: http://bt.com/adopt If you have already done this, there is no need to contact BT again.
It is highly likely that this is your last opportunity to consider adopting the kiosk for an alternative use.
For those kiosks that are listed buildings, unless the kiosk is to be adopted, the telephony will be removed and the kiosk locked.
For those kiosks that are not listed buildings, unless the kiosk is to be adopted, the telephony and the kiosk will be removed. This applies to both the non-listed red kiosks as well as the modern kiosks.
If the review requested by North Yorkshire Council is successful, and BT advise that the payphone is to be retained, regardless of whether an application is received by BT to adopt the kiosk for an alternative use or not, the payphone will be retained in use as a working payphone.
Planning Policy and Place Officer.
*** As discussed in previous Parish Council meeting PC have put forward to adopt the kiosk should the 21-day review by BT initiated by North Yorkshire Council fail.
